Reason why I choose Dato Aliff Syukri

I choose Dato Alif Syukri is because of his have a direction toward his career. Problem challenges is part of doing business and he learn how to convince about his business that he want to do. Not only that, he hardworking, have many ideas to expand his business and the best part is he never give up even though he know from the first time he started when  his was primary school. After he finished the study he started his business, he make a class for everyone to learn how to make up. From this class he can get income to produce his own product. Hence, it is proved that Dato Aliff syukri is so determine in expanding his business and nowdays he make many are released.

Background

Behind the success of D’herbs, Dato Aliff syukri’s mother Rozita Ibrahim from Senadayu Tinggi Company always support him about his business. He star to business when he sell to friends office. After that he opened the small booth at the market every week. Sometimes every Saturday and Sunday he trade at Seksyen 13, Kelana Jaya & Sri Andalas. When he want to make a loans, his paperwork thrown by the bank because they assume that Dato Aliff Syukri have a slave crude man person. He felt so sad.

From this case, he proved that he can be a successful person. He always be patient so now he can opened the own company.

D’Herbs Healthy Marketing established at September 2010 when they operate at Lot store in level 2 with one workers and they have 4 main product such as foundation, slimming product, women’s healthy drinks and lipstick lip treatment and nowdays they moving forward with almost 90 new  product lines with a total of 35 staff who helped launch the company during the business.

Starting with only operates at level 2 they have moved in the store lot and had hired two lots of shop to launch a business. This is because can make the easy to communicate with the business patners.

Now D’Herbs has created a brand which is have a favourite brand loyalty to customers whether in Malaysian, Singapore and Brunei and they also determined to make one of  famous cosmetic brand in Malaysia as well another countries and their goals around worldwide. 





DATO' DR. JANNIE TAY

Reason why I choose Dato’ Dr. Jannie Tay
I choose Dato’ Dr.Jannie Tay because she have a good education person. At 1968, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in physiology. She continued her study in pharmacology namely the study of drug reaction. After she was married, she work as a lecture in Singapore University. She change her work when her husband continued the study in medicine. Thus, she work as saleswoman in Lee Chay & Company, a company owned by the family of her husband watches. She was a tough person in the face allegation. She never give up even though she have many problem for the first time. Until today, she always keep in her mind that strength of mind and optimistic attitude to motivate her to continued her life.

Background

Dato' Dr. Siew Lee Chan, also known as Jannie Tay, co-founded Hour Glass Ltd. on August 11, 1979. Dato' Dr. Chan serves as Executive of Singapore operations at Hour Glass Ltd and is In Charge of its watch retail business Development and Marketing Strategy. She is the Founder of Save Our Planet Investment Pte Ltd. She established Save Our Planet Investments. She has been in the watch retailing business since 1973. She served as the Managing Director of Hour Glass Ltd. from August 11, 1979 to March 31, 2004.

She was the Driving force behind Hour Glass Ltd 's Growth from a one-boutique retail Operation into a regional player today. She served as the Non-Executive Chairperson of Altius Mining Limited from February 14, 2011 to February 6, 2012. Dato' Dr. Chan has been Executive Vice Chairman of Hour Glass Ltd. since April 2004 and as its Director since August 11, 1979. She serves as a Director of Altius Mining Limited.

Dato' Dr. Chan is a Founder of the Women's Business Connection and is its President. She is the President of the Singapore Retailers Association and Asean Business Forum. She was the Founder President of the International Women's Forum in Singapore. A tireless worker for Charitable causes, and the Arts, she has raised significant sums for the Community Chest of Singapore, the Autism Resource Centre, the Canossian School for the Hearing Impaired, the Ong Teng Cheong Music Fund and the Timor-Leste Foundation.

She is the Chairman of The Retail Academy of Singapore and the Retail Industry Skills and Training Council. She is the Chairman of the Commonwealth Business Women's Network and the first female Executive Board Member of the Commonwealth Business Council. She has been a Member of the Business Advisory Council of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific since 2004. Since 2000, she was a Member of the first Business Advisory Council of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

Dato' Dr. Chan was a Member of the Women's Leadership Initiative Board of John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Dato' Dr. Chan was a Member of the Commonwealth Business Forum. Dato' Dr. Chan is the Patron of YuHua Community Club Management Committee. She was the Chairman of The School Management Committee of The Canossian School for the Hearing Impaired.

In 1997, she was named as one of the 50 leading Woman Entrepreneurs of the World. In March 2003, Dato' Dr. Chan was conferred the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP) which carries the title Dato'. She was one of 50 Australians and alumni chosen and honored at the Advanced Women's Leadership Summit in Sydney, 7-8 March 2011. In August 2009, she was the first woman to win Enterprise Asia's APEA Entrepreneur of The Year Award. Dato Steven Sim is a person that determination toward his career. The problem and challenges is a one part of doing business and he will learn from mistake and solving problem. Not only that, he have many ideas to manage his business, working smart and he know how to attract the public about his business. In short, he learn from hard way. He left his job as a marketing director at a multinational company after spotting a gap in the food and beverage (F&B) industry. He set up the business together with three nephews, who are trained bakers, and a start-up capital of RM150,000. It was self-funded. Until today, they have not borrowed from the bank. Hence, it is proved that Dato Steven Sim is so determined in expanding his business and has financial skills that we should learn.

Background

Behind the success of Secret Recipe, who is Steven Sim focused so much on creating the brand included creating a menu that contained the best local and western cuisine and mostly is notably cakes. Secret recipe cafe is founded in year 1997, slowly become famous thoughtout Malaysia.

Over the years, the chain has expanded to Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan and even Australia. Steven realized the way he could implement innovative brand features that would set Secret Recipe above the competition. They have a passion for building and always think out of the box. When he started the business with his three nephews who are trained bakers, he desired a brand that has the potential to be recognized globally.

He always emphasized in maintaining the consistency of quality and also the way the chain operates to incorporate market trends. And that why, Dato Steven Sim managed to transform a small, family run café into an internationally recognized franchise.

Secret Recipe is a brand that is easily acceptable as our products and menus are adaptable in any market. Cakes, though western in origin, are quite universal and easy to relate to. It is not mind bogging or complicated, it is a product category that is fun and anyone can enjoy.

Dato has started the business with his three nephews 14 year ago with start up capital of RM150,000. They started their first Secret Recipe outlet in SS2, Petaling Jaya, in 1997. In year 2000, there were 15 Secret Recipe in Klang Valley and one in Singapore.

That years, the company also started its franchise business. Dato said that the toughest challenge in creating a franchise was to come up with a system for consistent product quality in all the cafe.  
The start-up cost of a franchise in Malaysia around RM400,000 to RM500,000. The company has a team of franchise managers who checks outlet regularly for product quality and conduct staff training. Their job are solely to help the franchise outlets. In the next two years, the company aims to grow its network from 190 outlets to 250 outlets in Malaysia.

The company had very much focused on brand building early on. It created its own logo, corporate colour, marketing strategies, uniforms, menu layouts, interior design and customers service standards.
Building a sustainable business with a strong bran is no easy task, Dato Steven Sim says, adding that one must know what the brand’s strength is, focus on it and develop it consistently.

Dato Steven Sim recalls that when the Secret Recipe brand was first introduced in Singapore in 2000, it did not receive much attention, and had to compete with more establish names from established names from the United State, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong and even Singapore itself.






DATUK YUSUF TAIYOOB

Why I choose Datuk Yusuf Taiyoob because he never give up to make a business even thought for the first time he failed. From this case, he learn many thing to make his business success. He use the best price to attract the customers. He always know that product by Yusuf Taiyoob very good product and have a quality. This company take a long time to make a business knows as a supplier of this country, besides his product also famous in Thailand, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia.  


Background

Datuk Yusuf Taiyoob, the Managing Director of Yusuf Taiyoob SDN BHD. He is 50 year old. He come from Georgetown, Pulau Pinang. A food and spice trader who has been in business since the 1980s, has seen the commercial landscape change over the years.

One of the most famous product of the company are dates. The name Yusuf Taiyoob is not foreign to the country anymore as its name is always mentioned together with dates. The man himself, was given the name the king of dates. He started his business in 1979, selling perfumes at his grandfather's shop near the Bayan Lepas airport in Penang.

As the business did not turned out well, Yusuf said he decided to turn to selling consumer goods such as spices, beans, cashew nuts, almonds and raisins. Soon as the business grew larger and older, there is a need to increase the products of the company.


There is where the picture of dates came in. The company started supplying dates on a small scale and as people started to recognise and trust their products over the years, then they decided too come out with their own brand. Some of their products are also named after the Datuk Yusuf Taiyoob's children like Wasem, Safiya (or Safia), and Safina.

Yusuf Taiyoob Sdn. Bhd. today has a modern storage and distribution facility located on the mainland at Bukit Minyak, Penang which accomodates 7,000 metric tonnes in cold storage and 2,000 metric in ambient storage for all types of food and non food products. This facility serves as the distribution network for Malaysia and the neighbouring ASEAN countries.

For me, I choose him because even though he was failed but he never give up and he always continue the business. He have a good person and he believe that one day the business can be success though it will be take a long time. The most important is he expand the business around the world.
